UM awarded for the efforts on establishing lactation rooms and hiring disabled employees

Recently, the University of Macau (UM) received certificates of appreciation at the “Recognition Ceremony of World Breastfeeding Week 2017” and the “7th Recognition Scheme on Hiring Disabled Employees”.

UM’s support in breastfeeding by establishing standard lactation rooms was appreciated at the “Recognition Ceremony of World Breastfeeding Week 2017”, which was organized by the Health Bureau (SSM) of the Macao SAR, the Women’s General Association of Macau, Macau Breastfeeding Association and Macau Breastfeeding and Nurturing Promotion Association. The UM lactation rooms, which were established in 2016, are located at N6-2019 and E22-2025 with comfortable seating, side tables, refrigerator and partitions to section off private areas for nursing mothers. To further accommodate the demand of colleagues, a new lactation room in Administration Building is being constructed with better facilities and more spacious environment.

As a socially responsible employer, UM provides career opportunities to local disabled community. Commended for UM’s support on hiring disabled employees and contributing to the social inclusion, UM received the certificate of appreciation at the “7th Recognition Scheme on Hiring Disabled Employees”, which was co-organized by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) of the Macao SAR. This is the fifth time that UM received this award.
